I completed my degree in Food Technology at Reading University and worked in Technical and
Quality management in the food industry. Companies I worked for included Associated British
Foods and Nabisco.
I then progressed to working within the Public Analyst department, Regulatory services,
Hampshire County Council as Team Leader for Food Safety. I was in this role for 14 years and
this involved working closely with Trading Standards and Environmental Health departments
testing food and water for compliance with food standards. It was whilst I was working here
that I completed my MSc in Food Safety and Control at Southbank University, London and my
Lead Assessor ISO 9000:2000 auditor training course.
I worked for South Downs College, Waterlooville as a part-time lecturer delivering food hygiene
courses (Levels 1 to 4) and nutrition. I have more recently worked at Highbury College,
Portsmouth delivering food hygiene, nutrition and health, infection control courses as well as
being an internal moderator for these courses and an internal verifier for cleaning and
support services. It was here that I gained my Professional Graduate Certificate in Further and
Higher Education (PGCE) and my A1 assessor award and my V1 internal verifier award. I
continue to work with Highbury College as a Corporate Associate.
I am a member of the Institute of Food Science and Technology (MIFST) and a member of the
Institute for Learning (MIfL).
JMP Food Consultant was established in 2002 offering consultancy, advice and training to
food businesses, including third party food hygiene audits.
I have a wide ranging background in food standards and training and I am passionate about
learning and development in these areas with courses being customised to meet individual
client requirements. This could be for certified CIEH Food Hygiene courses or customised
courses for CPD or other requirements
